Small sessions.
Real places.
People who know.

Slowtide is a local marketplace for hands-on experiences in Bangkok. A riverside walk at dusk, a quiet movement session in Lumphini, or a working review of your experience listing — sessions sized for actual conversation, not a crowd.

Riverside neighbourhood in Bangkok near Phra Athit Road
Who we are

A small marketplace rooted in the old part of the city

We started from a shophouse on Phra Athit Road in 2023, a few streets from the river and the Democracy Monument. The idea was simple: Bangkok has hundreds of people who know one corner of the city extremely well — a canalside neighbourhood, a vegetable market at 5 AM, a particular stretch of teak-house lane — and visitors or newcomers rarely reach them. Slowtide connects those two groups in small, unhurried sessions.

Every session on the platform is capped at eight people. Hosts set the pace; guests ask the questions they actually want to ask. We also work with hosts directly, helping them write and present their listings so the right people find them. Nothing here is designed to rush you.

How Slowtide works

Simple by design

The booking flow is quiet on purpose. Pick something from the session list, choose a time, review a short written summary from the host, then confirm. No countdown clocks, no "only 2 spots left" alerts.

Browse by neighbourhood

Sessions are organised by area and by format. You can filter to what is nearby or search by the kind of experience you have in mind.

Pick a time slot

Hosts list sessions as calendar blocks. Choose a slot that works, read the host's written summary, and confirm. No phone tag, no lengthy back-and-forth.

Meet the host

Small groups mean you actually meet the person running the session. Ask questions, linger over a coffee stop, go at a pace that suits everyone.

Small groups only

Every session is capped at eight people. The format is a conversation, not a presentation. Hosts keep groups this size so the experience stays personal.

Clear, honest pricing

Prices are listed upfront in Thai Baht. No service fees added at checkout. What you see on the session card is what you pay.

Host notes included

Each session comes with a short written note from the host — what to wear, where to meet, what to bring. Small details that make the day go smoothly.

Chao Phraya river at morning — Bangkok riverside
On the water

Bangkok from the riverside is a different city

The Chao Phraya and its smaller canals carry most of the neighbourhood's actual life — the early-morning temple boats, the school commute, the flower market barge that comes through twice a week. Most tours skip all of it. Ours start there.

A listing review is two hours of focused editorial work

We look at two of your listings together — the headline, the description, how you present the meeting point, how your cover image reads on a phone screen. You leave with a written checklist and a follow-up summary. No platform access required; the session is entirely operational and editorial.

Why Slowtide

A few things worth knowing

We are a small team, and we are careful about what we list. Each host is interviewed before their first session goes live.

Hosts we know personally

Every host on the platform has gone through a short interview. We do not list people we have not spoken with.

Punctual and clear

Start times are kept. Meeting points are described clearly in the host note. We aim to keep logistics simple.

Capped at eight guests

The eight-person cap is a hard rule, not a preference. Groups stay small enough to feel like a conversation.

Data handled simply

We collect only what a booking requires. No selling lists, no surprise emails. See our privacy statement for the details.

Our approach

Slower, smaller, more personal

Local in the actual sense

Our hosts live and work in the neighbourhoods they lead sessions in. Not "local" as a branding word — local as in: they know the coffee shop owner by name and can tell you which canal gate creaks open at 6 AM.

No pressure, no performance

Sessions are not spectacles. The riverside walk pauses when someone wants to photograph a temple door. The movement session goes at the pace of the slowest person in the group. That is the point.

Transparent about what we do

The listing coaching service is operational and editorial — we help hosts write and present their listings more clearly. We do not make platform-access claims or performance promises.

What guests have said

SR

Sascha R.

Berlin · May 2025

I have done a lot of city tours and they usually feel rushed. This one paused at a temple courtyard for fifteen minutes because someone in the group asked a question. That is what I came for.

NP

Nareerat P.

Bangkok · April 2025

The listing review session was practical in a way I did not expect. We went through both my listings line by line, and the checklist they gave me afterwards took about an hour to work through. My inquiry rate went up noticeably the following month.

TK

Thomas K.

Chiang Mai · May 2025

I went to the morning movement session in Lumphini. Nice group, relaxed pace. The coach was clear about what each exercise was for without turning it into a lecture. Would go again when I am next in Bangkok.

FAQ

Common questions

If something is not covered here, the contact form below is the fastest way to ask.

How do I reserve a spot?

Use the contact form at the bottom of this page. Tell us which session you want and when suits you. We will confirm by email within one working day and send over the meeting point and host notes.

What is the maximum group size?

Eight guests per session. This is a hard cap. We do not run larger groups or combine sessions.

Can I book a private session for a small group?

Yes. If you want to book a session for two to eight people without joining a shared group, mention that in your message. Most hosts offer private slots with advance notice.

What if I need to cancel?

Please let us know as early as possible. Cancellations more than 48 hours before the session can usually be rescheduled. For shorter notice, we will do our best to find a workable arrangement but cannot always accommodate a full rescheduling.

Are the movement sessions suitable for beginners?

The sessions are framed as recreation and community, open to all comfort levels. The pace is relaxed and the coach adjusts activities to suit the group. If you have any specific concerns, mention them when you book and we will pass the note on to the host.

How does the listing coaching work?

It is a two-hour working session focused entirely on the editorial and operational side of your listings — how they read, how the photos work, whether the time slots make sense. We review two listings together and leave you with a written checklist and a follow-up summary. No platform login required.

How is my personal data handled?

We collect only what is needed to process and confirm a booking. Your details are not passed to third parties for marketing. For full details, see our Privacy Statement.

Where are sessions held?

Most sessions start in the Phra Nakhon and Banglamphu areas of Bangkok, close to our office on Phra Athit Road. The host note we send on confirmation will include the exact meeting point.
